The Love and Evolution of My Art

Even as a child I loved to draw.  I was picked on and bullied in school quite a bit because of my visual disability.  It did not take me long to realize that a lot of peace that I felt came from creating a drawing.  I used to love to run and show my mother anything I would draw.  I did not really tell others about my talent but every now and then a teacher would get wind of it, and then I found myself being recruited for art projects for school such as Black History Month displays and school play backgrounds.

For a long time, even well into adulthood, my first love was graphite pencil and colored pencils.  I decided to step out of my comfort zone and take an oil painting class….that was over 10 years ago.  I fell in love with using this medium for a short time.  For years after that I would go a long time between graphite drawings and oil paintings…only creating here and there and every now and then.  About two years ago I had a lot of free time on my hands because I was unemployed, so I picked up my graphite pencil and sketchbook again.  To my surprise, a passion that I had not felt quite as strongly before erupted inside me.  I literally could not put my art down and I could not stop creating.  I have been on fire for my work ever since.

I have explored all kinds of different mediums for my artwork.  Graphite pencil will probably always be my absolute favorite.  I have recently rediscovered my love for painting… this time with acrylic paints.  I am also fond of watercolor paint.  I cannot stop painting…I absolutely love it! I am excited to share and sell my work.  My artwork is my heart and soul poured on paper/canvas.  Every creation is a piece of me.  They are rarely just random paintings, but instead, are real experiences, visions, and dreams that I have been given by the Lord.  Through my words and artwork, my Godly mission is to inspire, uplift, and encourage one heart at a time.
